Also having smtp problems in POP and IMAP
Posted by: vlamgat - 08-10-2017 03:03 AM - Replies (1)

I posted this in an old thread but here again JIC:

Not able to send from OE in W10 but it works in XP. This is the error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'msn - home', Server: 'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

and this error in IMAP:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'imap,mail.outlook.com', Server: 'smtp-mail.outlook.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Any suggestions welcomed.

Reading Outlook Express 6 emails in My Documents
Posted by: pinkcloud - 07-31-2017 11:05 AM - Replies (1)

For many years I used Outlook Express 6 in XP and saved the emails .eml in the appropriate subject folders in My Documents.

The XP PC has given up the ghost and I have just transferred My Documents onto my Windows 8 machine.

However I cannot open any of the saved .eml emails and it is asking me for a file to associate them with.

Will your program do that please?

Thanks
pinkcloud

  Run-time error '53'
Posted by: Jim Dean - 07-27-2017 04:40 PM - Replies (5)

My hard drive is split between XP and 7 because I wanted to go on using XP as long as possible. Unwisely, I tried to access OE on XP from 7. I inserted the second key-code supplied and it started to install but got stuck. Going back to XP I found that I could not access OE, as the following message came up: "OESysTray Run-time error '53': File not found." But the missing file was not specified.

I have now downloaded OE for 7 from runasxp. So several questions:

1. How do I restore OE on XP?
2. How can I transfer to 7 or access from 7 all my data (emails, addresses, etc) ?
3. Will I be able to use the same OE files from either XP or 7?

Send To > Maill Recipient Missing on list
Posted by: geo791 - 07-26-2017 11:08 PM - Replies (7)

I am using Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium. Now in addition to oe6_v2.1.1 not being compatible with FF, I have discovered another issue. I had a picture I wanted to email. I right-clicked on the picture for the drop-down menu and chose "Send To". Then the list that opens does not include "Mail Recipient" on it. I have included a screen shot.

Need to keep entering the password
Posted by: fizixx - 07-22-2017 12:30 AM - Replies (5)

I think I fixed my previous issue, but something new has come up.

Every time I do a send/receive I have to enter the password. I go into the account and place it in the PW field, and make sure the 'save password' box is checked, but that doesn't seem to matter.

Win7 Pro machine.

Suggestions?

Thank you...

  Problem sending mail
Posted by: persolus - 07-10-2017 05:23 PM - Replies (7)

Hi,

I have been happily using OE for years on XP, 7, 8 and now 10. RunAs XP's version is great.

Recently my ISP withdrew their webmail, so I have been forced to find another source of POP and SMTP.

I have registered with Gmail, Outlook.com and Yahoo mail as they all have POP and SMTP settings. Receiving mail from each of them works well but none will allow me to send mail. I have used their recommended settings and have used many different combinations of settings and ports after searching for advice on this forum. Some of these mail providers also have a setting to allow connection with less secure apps, but all of my attempts to send mail have failed.

Do these mail services block messages from OE? If so, is there a work-around? Alternatively, can you recommend a mail service which will connect easily with OE?

Thanks and Best wishes,

Dud

Sudden error that's not an error
Posted by: fizixx - 07-09-2017 08:30 PM - Replies (9)

Hello....

the past couple days I've noticed that what I send brings up the error dialog box that is suppose to list the error(s) encountered, but it is empty. The message I'm sending remains in the Out Box, but the message is apparently actually sending.

Yesterday, I sent a large email (with pics and gif images in it) to someone and received this 'message' each time. I sent it 10 times....lol.

I also sent a test message to myself 3 times and received the same problem. All emails remained in the Out Box.

After I deleted the emails from the Out Box I did a 'Send/Receive' mail, and all the messages were delivered. I texted my friend and apparently all the emails I sent actually did send!

I closed OE and restarted....same thing.

I shut down the computer (Windows 7 Pro), restarted and tried it again and the same thing happens. Tried it again this morning and the problem persists.

I think something is actually broken in the program. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks.....
fiz~

  Second Identity Cannot Send Emails
Posted by: Paul H - 07-07-2017 02:09 AM - Replies (1)

I just set up OE and my main identity can send and receive emails just fine. However, the second identity can only receive and not send emails. The error message says "Server rejected the sender's email address" Server Error 550, Error Number 0x800CCC78. I have doubled checked all settings to mirror that of main identity - can you please help? Thanks - Paul
