error when sending email on IMAP account
#1
Trying to send an email on IMAP account. The email gets sent, but when OE is trying to move it to the "sent" IMAP folder,

it looks like connection error. as you can see here
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19118...a-mail-api
and here
https://github.com/jstedfast/MailKit/issues/221

that a user describes a [SERVERBUG] and [CLIENTBUG] with same "Additional arguments" errors with different email clients, it looks like something bad on yahoo mail servers may be the reason on this.
If you want to work with imap ( i would prefer pop because is more stable with all email clients), please give me more info about this, what email service you have?, is this caused when sending to a specific email service (yahoo) or it happens with all emails?

Rafail, the first thread that you referred to, does not mention any connection error; instead, it indicates that this problem was resolved by removing user flags, as described on this page:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19158...om-message

Maybe you could try something similar? I don't know what user flags are, maybe it's something specific to Java, but maybe you will figure something out.

The email service is sbcglobal.net, and this problem happens only with sbcglobal.net; I tried two my other IMAP accounts, and this error did not happen there. The threads you referred to also mention specifically Yahoo mail (which is the same as sbcglobal).

As I can see, another user already reported this problem before:
http://runasxp.com/Thread-Program-Proble...d-Problems

and you suggested to use SMTP instead of IMAP. When using IMAP, SMTP protocol is being used anyways in order to send the message. But after the message is sent, email client posts just-sent message to IMAP folder specified in the settings, now using IMAP protocol. So the message is sent twice, first time to SMTP server in order to send it to the recipient, 2nd to IMAP server in order to post it in IMAP folder - which you see in server transcript I posted - command APPEND followed by the message.

I suggested pop, because this error most likely happens only with imap.
Anyway, i asked about yahoo, because it looks like yahoo servers have something to do with this.
Look on 11th line of your error and you will notice "imap1055.mail.ne1.yahoo.com"..

Right, sbcglobal is provided by yahoo.

Exactly, and after a quick research for this error on google, i noticed that happens only with yahoo and with random email clients.
these errors are actually server errors, since imap folders are being updated directly from server in addition with pop.

No Rafail, not from server. I suggest that you re-read my post #3, the end of it. Or the RFC. The message is uploaded to IMAP server by the client, and this is what you see in the transcript I posted. Outlook (not OE) works with the same IMAP server and does not have this problem.

You may be right, to be honest i had never faced that issue.
Have you tried pop?

POP will probably work, but I'm very familiar with both, and there's a reason I prefer IMAP.

I now have contacted Yahoo about this, will see what they say.
