[SOLVED] English UK Spell Check
#1
Hi

I have downloaded Outlook Express 6 today for Windows 7 but only have the French spell check. Outlook Express installed in programme files x86.

I have set up all email accounts and all send/receive works fine except the spell check is not in English UK.

What should I do? I don't want to lose all my emails again by reinstalling.

Thanks

Thanks but that is US English and not UK English.

I need UK English as otherwise spell check thinks that a lot of words are incorrect when they are not.

Where do I get the UK english version?

Thanks

Thanks. I have installed it but the Language Tab dropdown list still only provides me with a choice of either English US or French.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi

Yes, I have Microsoft Office Professional 2007 installed. Spell check in Word etc is English UK and works fine. I have also reinstalled your Outlook Express and oe_eng_proofingtools.exe. Still I only have the English US or French dictionary option.

If I know where the Outlook Express dictionary is linked to in the registry maybe I could redirect it to use the Microsoft Shared/Proof folder that Office uses??

Outlook express uses default Microsoft Shared/Proof folder on program files (x86). There is no need of any folder change.

You can try suggestion on this page:
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forum/helproo...ss-376703/

That says that the speller you already installes (oe_eng_proofingtools.exe) includes US and UK speller. But you need to add a registry key (in some cases) to make it show UK speller.

***Before trying this, please make sure that you have installed speller (oe_eng_proofingtools.exe) as Administrator (Right click>Run as Administrator)

I am including the tweak on above page to help you make it easier.
Use uk-spell(64bit).reg for 64bit OS and uk-spell(32bit).reg for 32bit.

Good luck

I had already seen the article but it didn't assist. However, your attached registry addition worked perfectly. Smile
