Making backups on email folders frequently is always a good idea.

Is is dangerous deleting email folders. But you can first back up them all and after making sure that you have a copy of them, you can try deleting the old inbox.dbx files when outlook express is open. So if it allows you to delete it when oe is running, it means that this file is not used and you can delete it. In any case, make a backup first.

Rafail, can you change the default location of the installed files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Outlook Express to the user equivalent of the "My Documents" folder? I copy and pasted to C:\Users\vernon\Documents\Outlook Express and in there I clicked on the executable that starts OE msinm.exe and sent it to the desktop as a shortcut and it works quite well from there.

The reason for my thought is in any updates, Windows 10 does not change any programs or files/folders in the main user's "folder" that contain various other folders like picture, videos, documents and others.

Just a thought on a way to work around the deleting of this Outlook Express files in the "Program Files (x86) folders.

Hello,
for compatibility reasons, the path cannot be changed. if you change it moving the files, some features may not work correctly.
