Make Outlook Express default email client
#11
When I try to make OE the default mail client, the box in Tools > Options > General is greyed out. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Also when I try to set OE as the MAILTO protocol in the control panel, there is no MAILTO option listed.

When it's grayed out, it means that it is already set default. Mailto should be there if you click "Choose defaults for this program". If not, please reinstall (no need to uninstall first)

To make Outlook Express default email program go to Tools>Options and click on "Make Default" button and the "Apply"

The second step is from Control Panel. Open you control panel and go to Default Programs>Set Default programs. Click on Outlook Express and then "Set this program as default"

At the second step, "Outlook Express" is not one of the choices in the list of programs. How do I get it into the list?

Q1:

I'm running Win7 Pro x64 in a domain. I have administrative rights at the PC.

The buttons in Tools > Options > General is greyed out.
All the three options in Default Programs>Set Default programs choosed (checkboxes is marked and greyed out).
".eml" and "mailto:" work just fine. "Mapi mail" does not.
I've tryed to reinstall the programm with and without uninstallation.
I've tryed to redownload oex221_last_version.exe, because menu About in the tray shows V.2.2.0
I've even tryed to delete a partition of HDD and make a new clear install of Win.
And when I click 'send to' I still receive a message that there is no default client mail configured.

What else can I do to make "Mapi mail" work?

Q2:

After reinstalling Win,  the program required a new registration key, because in its opinion the installation is performed on another computer. All the hardware remained the same (please, check this). If I knew in advance, I probably would not reinstall Win without asking here the Q1.
Can I somehow restore the possibility of installing the wasted key in vain?

Q1: This usually happens when installing ms office After installing outlook express.
If you have installed MS office, please reinstall outlook express. It is important that outlook express is installed AFTER ms office

Q2: please send me that key via PM to check
