Freezing at start

We use Windows 8.1 and since a few days "Outlook Express" freezes at the start.
I have to close down and cannot work with it.
Has somebody seen this before?
What can cuase this?

also, did you imported any messages?

I use Avira free antivir.
What do you mean with messages? Error-messages?

Hello,
Since an hour ago, I am unable to start Outlook Express on my Windows 10. I am getting run time error '53' ; file not found.
I use AVG and the software just updated itself an hour before. Any ideas, please? Please reply in this forum. Thank you.

HenkB: i mean if you have imported any old emails or not. Some times corrupt email folders may cause oe to freeze.
FrancoA: please download and reinstall last version 2.1 and try again. that error is a missing file
