Error message: Outlook Express doesn't function anymore.

When i put all the data in the default folder on C, everything works allright.
In case of emergency, i'd rather have the data on another hdd.
Thanks for reacting.

Likewise. Windows 8.1 does not seem to like the program - keeps warning me when I open it. I find it works until you try to change things to get old messages. Even just looking at the 'store file' (via the menu) seems to trip it. Further, if you try to 'import' messages from 'OE6', nothing more happens after selecting OE6, whereas, if I remember correctly (as my XP no longer works) it should then (after 'next') ask for a source.
I am going to try renaming the 'old' file to the same name as the 'new' (recent) one to see if that works (after copying it and forwarding the messages to myself)
I think this has always been tricky with OE, and Win8 doesn't want to help!
Confused

That seems to work ok, but I notice a problem with saving attachments. Don't know if they will open because I haven't the requiste software loaded yet.
But thanks for a good program anyway!

RE: Crash: when Store Folder changed
I also have this same problem. On a Win7-32 installation I was able to change the store location, but on a Win8-64 pro installation I get a dialog box theat says "Outlook Express has stpped working" with the only option to "Close Program".

This happens whether I run it in XP mode or as an Administrator. I was able to chage the Store Loaction by editing the registry. Here is a what is recorded from the event log when the program crashes:

Error 1/1/2015 4:08:00 PM Application Error 1000 (100) "Faulting application name: msimn.exe, version: 6.0.2900.2180, time stamp: 0x41107b0e

Thoughts?
