Heart [SOLVED] Changing address book location
Hi,
Thank you for a great work.
I need to change the address book (.WAB) file to another location.
In XP I changed the location entry in the registry but this doesn't work in Win 7 64.
I need to do this because I'm using a program (NETGuard PMC) that restores drive C: to it's original state, deleting all changes, at every reboot.

Thank you again. I'm going to open a Paypal account and donate

(hard) Symbolic link may do the job. I'll try and report here.

RE: Changing address book location
Hello,

There are 2 ways doing it , the most common is registry way.

1.run registry editor (on start menu type "regedit" and enter)

2.Find the key "Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name"
3.ight click on that key, and click 'Permissions'

4.Click on Username 'RESTRICTED' and your username and click on 'Full Controll -Allow' Checkbox on them.

5.Go to 'Default' (REG_SZ) and chenge the path of the wab file with the one you want.

remember to move your wab file from old location to new one, also be sure that the folder that choosed for wab location exists.

Second way (Symbolic link):
1. Go to your wab file path (usually "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Address Book\")

2. Rename that folder from "Address Book" to something else (Address Book OLD)
3. Create a CMD Shortcut on desktop and run it and administrator.

4. Type :
Quote:mklink /D "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Address Book\" "D:\ab\"

replacing 'username' with yours user name and 'D:\ab\' with the path you want to move address book

(you will se the shortcut (symbolic link) created on old Wab folder location.

5. Create that folder you set as wab file path (D:\ab)

remember to move your wab file from old location to new one.
Finished

RE: Changing address book location
Thanks,
For those who don't want to use command line or afraid to change the registry - you can use Symlink Creator (Free) from sourceforge.net
