RE: OE6 don't send mail wit hotmail
Port 25 that is tasted and works gives you an error that "The connection to the server has failed. "
Has your ISP blocked port 25? If so you have to contact your ISP
The test you made on XP did you tried port 25?

RE: OE6 don't send mail wit hotmail
please check again the settings i sent you. These settings are tasted and workign 100%. But your ISP may have blocked port 25 (some ISP's do).
So, set your settings exactly as in attached image and contact your ISP to unblock port 25.

RE: OE6 don't send mail wit hotmail
Hello,
Look how ports are being used on mail providers.
Always there is a main and alternative ports for pop.
Hotmail main smtp port is 587 (for high encryption level) and port 25 as normal (used by most email clients)
Google uses port 465 AND 587 (for high encryption) and this port (465) is used my many many others like Yahoo and so on.
Google also has alternative 25.

On xp, port 587 on livemail requires SSL (that outlook express has) but on windows 7 it rquires only STARTTLS that OE does not support.
And this is because of different security portocols that windows 7 and later uses.
In other hand, most of other mail providers uses port 465 that supports SSL and STARTTLS.

you are on the situation that you cannot use port 587 and also your ISP has blocked port 25.
I dont know why hotmail does not use port 465 like almost all others..

But always therea are solutions, You can try:
1. Use an IMAP account instead of pop, it's same thing (suggested and very easy)
(UPDATE: IMAP's SMTP Will also work with port 25 also so it wont work for you)
2. Ask your ISP to open port 25 for you (almost all ISP's can do that with a phone call)

RE: OE6 don't send mail wit hotmail
Update:
Imap's smtp address that now hotmail supports is only port 25, Microsoft hotmail refuses to allow other port that 25 (Without STARTTLS) on IMAP accounts also.

I dont know why your ISP refused to open port 25 but Hotmail only support port 25 without STATTLS and it's the only solution.

You can always use a different mail account for smtp (like gmail) and receive your emails from your hotmail but send emails from gmail.
Imcoming and outgoing servers are independent so this may be a quick solution for this special case.
